Continuous Improvement ProcessEvery new course is evaluated and approved by the MBA Academic Standards and Assessment Committee (ASAC) to ensure that the curriculum is appropriate and that the quality of the work balances with the amount of credit. The Consortium MBA director and distance learning coordinator do a "walk through" with the course instructor/developer before the new course goes online. Student Course EvaluationsStudents complete a three question, mid-course evaluation on courses that are at least 7 weeks long. The results of this anonymous survey go directly to the course instructor so adjustments to the course, if needed, can be made. Students complete an extensive course evaluation at the end of a course. The results of this anonymous evaluation are reviewed by the course instructor and the ASAC. Changes are made as needed. Faculty Course EvaluationsThrough the maintenance and revision process, faculty members also evaluate their courses before each new offering. Changes are made as needed. Student Phone SurveyStudents are periodically surveyed via telephone for feedback regarding the MBA program. Results from this anonymous survey are reviewed by the ASAC and the MBA consortium deans and directors. Changes are made as needed. Program AssessmentThe case method is used to provide an objective assessment of how well the goals of the MBA program are being accomplished. The Consortium has developed a set of knowledge and skill goals that students are expected to achieve by completion of the required core program. Students respond to two cases within a given time period at the end of Module four; these cases and their questions were designed so that their successful completion indicates that students either meet or exceed expectations. Two independent assessors read student responses and, applying a consistent grading rubric, determine which, if any, areas are problematic to individual students. The faculty believe strongly that they should work with students who have multiple problem areas until they can demonstrate an understanding of these goals The assessors also identify, based on the overall results, if there are areas of instruction where improvements are warranted within the program. |
