Grading & Satisfactory Progress

Scholastic standing is determined by the grade point system. A semester grade point average is calculated by dividing the grade points earned by the number of credits attempted that semester. The cumulative average is the total number of grade points earned divided by the total number of credits attempted.

Incomplete Grade

Incomplete grades ("In") are given at the discretion of the professor. You may receive an incomplete if you were unable to take the final exam, or complete some limited amount of work due to illness or other unusual and substantiated cause beyond your control. An incomplete grade must be removed no later than the end of the regular semester following the term in which the incomplete was received, although the professor may set an earlier deadline. Grades of incomplete not removed by the deadline date are converted to a grade of F.

Grade Appeal Process

All appeals for a final grade change must be initiated in writing to the course instructor during the semester/term immediately following the semester/term in which the grade was earned. If no resolution is achieved, a written appeal must be made to the MBA Program Director.

Email .

The faculty member has the opportunity to present a written response to the student's appeal. The faculty representatives for the UW MBA Consortium Standards and Assessment Committee will serve as the hearing body. If the faculty representative to the committee is the faculty member involved in the appeal, another representative of that institution shall be chosen by the MBA Program Director to serve in his/her place. If resolution cannot be achieved, final recourse would be to the UW MBA Consortium Executive Committee.

Satisfactory Progress

Foundations: You must maintain a GPA of 3.00 or higher.
A maximum of three credits of C work (C+ or C) in Foundation courses will be accepted. A course in which a grade of C- or less is earned will not be counted as fulfilling a Foundation requirement. The course must be repeated and the new grade will replace the grade earned initially.

MBA Program: You must maintain a GPA of 3.00 or higher.
Grades obtained in the completion of foundation courses count in the computation of GPA. A maximum of six credits of C work (C+ or C) in MBA courses will be accepted. A course in which a grade of C- or less is earned will not be counted toward the 30-credit MBA minimum, but will be computed in the GPA.

Dismissal From the Program

If you earn a grade of D+ or lower in a graduate level course, either at the Foundation or the MBA level, you will be dismissed from the program regardless of whether the course was taken as part of the UW MBA Consortium Program or at another college or university. You may petition for readmission to the program by writing to:

UW MBA Consortium Program Director
105 Garfield Avenue, Schneider Hall 215
UW-Eau Claire
Eau Claire, WI 54702-4004

Transfer Courses

While foundation grades are counted in the computation of GPA by the UW MBA Consortium, grades in transfer courses are not counted in GPA computation.
