Jan Cermak has been selected as the 2010 University of Wisconsin MBA Consortium Outstanding Student. He will be recognized May 22 at the MBA reception following commencement. Cermak is a May, 2010 graduate.

Cermak has a B.S. degree in computer science and a B.A. degree in German from UW-Eau Claire. He has worked for American Girl for the past twelve years as an IT Analyst in support of e-Commerce websites, and led the design effort to implement club membership functionality for e-commerce sites for the Hot Wheels Red Line Club and Barbie Fan Club. Cermak is also a member of toastmasters, and plans to earn his Competent Leader award within the next year.

"It is an honor to be recognized with this award, and I'm grateful for the opportunity that the online program gave me to earn an MBA while allowing me to spend as much time at home with my family as possible," he said.

Cermak lives in Middleton, Wisconsin with his wife who he met as an undergraduate student at UW-Eau Claire. They have three children, ages 7, 5 and 2. In his spare time, he enjoys basketball, golf, softball, camping, traveling, logic puzzles and word puzzles.
