2018 Outstanding Faculty

Posted: March 4th, 2019

During the Fall 2018 term, students taking courses through the University of Wisconsin MBA Consortium were asked to nominate outstanding instructors from the program. We are pleased to announce the following winners of the 2018 UW MBA Consortium Outstanding Faculty awards:

Bob ErffmeyerBob Erffmeyer, UW-Eau Claire, Elective Courses

Bob is a two-time recipient of the Outstanding Faculty award. Although he has taught courses in the modules, electives, and foundations since he started teaching with the program, he has regularly taught the MBA 759: Selling Ideas at Work course for the past few years.  Students commented on his caring approach and individualized assignment feedback. One student said, "You could tell he cared deeply about his students, what they learned in the class, and how they could apply it to their work." Another student commented that, "Dr. Erffmeyer provided very useful feedback that complemented the learning from the course material. He provided constant commentary, great discussion feedback, and synopses of the discussions."

Mike GodfreyMike Godfrey, UW-Oshkosh, Foundation Courses

Mike has been teaching the MGMT 741: Production and Operations Foundation course since 2012. Students noted that Mike makes it a point to provide timely feedback to his students. One student said, "Dr. Godfrey did an excellent job of responding immediately to any issues or questions. He was also proactive in notifying the class whenever there was a block of time when he wouldn't be available to answer emails." Students also appreciate having a popular text like The Goal to read for this course in addition to a traditional textbook. "Dr. Godfrey assigned an excellent book to read that is not only relevant to the course but in many different aspects, even in personal life," said another student.

Rebecca WylandRebecca Wyland, UW-Eau Claire, Module Courses

In addition to teaching the MBA 715: Leadership Mini-Module course, Rebecca also teaches the MGMT 740: Organizational Management foundation course. No matter what course Rebecca teaches, students appreciate her engaging style of teaching. "Dr. Wyland is a caring, intelligent, and extremely responsive professor," commented one student. "Always quick with her answers to questions, without rushing a poor response. I have had the pleasure of taking multiple classes with her and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending her classes to others." Student also value her ability to help them make connections between the course work and their workplaces. Another student noted that, "She helped explain things in a way that made sense to me and my industry! I know we all come from very different companies, but her ability to make connections that made sense to a broad variety of us definitely helped my learning!"

We congratulate and thank these faculty for their efforts in making their courses, and therefore the UW MBA Consortium program, the best it can be.
