2022 Outstanding Faculty

Posted: February 8th, 2023

At the end of Summer 2022, students taking courses through the University of Wisconsin MBA Consortium were asked to nominate outstanding instructors they had taken courses with during the 2021-22 academic year. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Melissa Bublitz has been named the 2022 UW MBA Consortium Outstanding Faculty.

Melissa Bublitz

Melissa has been teaching the MBA 755: Consumer Behavior course since 2015. She also helped develop and started teaching the MBA 702: Making Informed Managerial Decisions course in 2022. She is a professor in the marketing department at UW Oshkosh. Students appreciated Melissa's detailed feedback and video content. One student commented, "She is passionate, detailed with her feedback, followed up with us very often, and is very knowledgeable on marketing. The weekly video message made us feel connected and showed she cared." Melissa holds an MBA from UW Oshkosh and noted that her experience as a student helped shape her approach as an instructor. "In my own MBA program, I valued projects and assignments I could apply directly to my work environment." She adds that students have consistently provided positive feedback regarding the applied projects she assigns in her course and she "marvels at the creative and innovative approaches" students take with their projects. This is the second time Melissa has won the award after previously being recognized in 2016.

Dr. Steve Castleberry, adjunct professor of marketing for the UW MBA Consortium, and Dr. Fred Kolb, professor emeritus of economics from UW-Eau Claire, were also recognized as finalists for the outstanding faculty award. Dr. Castleberry co-developed the MBA 759: Selling Your Ideas at Work course and has taught it for the past 15 years. He is a full-time professor with the University of Minnesota Duluth. Dr. Kolb began teaching for the UW MBA Consortium in 2001 while still employed full-time at UW-Eau Claire and has continued developing and teaching various courses for the program including MBA 709: Essentials of Economic and Statistical Analysis and MBA 754: Fundamental Methods of Forecasting. Steve was named Outstanding Faculty in 2017, while Fred received the award in 2012 and 2015.

We congratulate and thank these faculty for their efforts in making their courses, and therefore the UW MBA Consortium program, one of the best online MBA programs in the nation.
